Some things are worth seeking out. For us, that thing is matcha — real matcha, the kind that has been cultivated with patience and reverence in the misty hills of Uji, Kyoto, for centuries.

Kumo Matcha was born from a deep love for Japanese tea culture and a simple belief: that people in Lebanon deserve access to the same ceremonial-grade matcha enjoyed in the finest tea houses of Japan.

From the Hills of Uji, Kyoto

Uji is not just any tea region — it is the tea region. Nestled between Kyoto and Nara, its cool climate, fertile soil, and centuries of tea-growing tradition produce some of the most prized matcha in the world. Our matcha is sourced directly from this legendary region, where the youngest, most tender tea leaves are carefully shade-grown for weeks before harvest.

Shade-growing is what sets ceremonial matcha apart. By shielding the plants from direct sunlight, farmers coax out a deeper green color, a richer umami flavor, and a higher concentration of L-theanine — the amino acid that gives matcha its calm, focused energy.
